There are numerous activities in the valley and the mountain railways also offer a child-friendly infrastructure for your family summer holiday. 

Embark on a holiday adventure and discover rustic mountain huts with your children. Forget the hustle and bustle and stress of every day life in the clear & pure mountain air. Experience this unique natural world, the realm of Pitztal’s Alpine ibex and recharge your batteries while holidaying with your children.

Observe marmots and alpine ibexes on eye level in the alpine ibex centre.

Our outdoor specialists offer rock climbing courses specially designed for families. Special, child-friendly tours exploring the impressive glacial world can also be booked with our local guides. Tip: included in our active summer program from July to September, these tours can be booked starting from only 5.00 Euro per person (booking via Pitztal Tourism Association).

Traditional catered mountain hut visit

An unforgettable highlight for visitors of any age is a visit to one of our traditional catered mountain huts. In addition, some of our catered mountain huts, the so called “Alms” offer small petting zoos for children. 

Hiking with the family 

Easy hikes for families are marked on our hiking maps. Guided family hikes take place twice a week as part of our weekly programme (for example Glacier Days, sunrise trips to Sechzeiger and more).

Discounts for children

To make sure your holiday with the little ones is really special, we allow children under the age of 10 accompanied by one parent go free with the Bambini Pass on all mountain railways in Pitztal (please note that passports or identity cards are required).

Childcare

At Pitzi’s Kinderclub for children aged 3 to 14, the kids get to go on an “expedition” of Pitztal. Childcare in Pitzi’s Kinderclub is free with the Pitztal Leisure Pass!

Furthermore there are special family-friendly hotels in Pitztal that offer childcare.

Pitzi’s Kindergarten is available for children up the age of 3. Here the very little ones can enjoy fun-filled, eventful days during their holiday.

Hochzeiger hiking resort is an ideal tourist attraction in summer and winter, especially for children. Children can go an exciting discovery tour through ZirbenPark at Hochzeiger in the company of the resort’s two mascots Pitzi & Gratsch. Find out fascinating facts about the rare pine and have tons of fun in nature.

  • 14 eventful stations like the ZirbenNest: The six meter high nest is a new highlight in the ZirbenPark. It is built like a secret dungeon whose entrance must be found first of all.

Hiking with children in Pitztal in Tyrol

The mountain meadows of Hochzeiger hiking resort are teeming with bees and butterflies and the busy lives of forest ants can be observed near the hiking paths and trails. Or why not try and guess from a distance what healing herbs are shedding their sweet-smelling essential oils. Hochzeiger gondola takes the whole family comfortably from the bottom station at 1,450 metres up to the intermediate station at 2,000 metres – the ideal starting point for a family hike at Hochzeiger. With a bit of luck the journey might even start in the gondola of the mascots Pitzi & Gratsch.

Unique Mountain Exploration for all the Family

During the summer months the scenic Hiking Area surrounding the mountain lake of Rifflsee makes a wonderful starting point for fantastic walks, hikes and nature exploration at all difficulty levels. A perfect base is the village of Mandarfen in the rear Pitzal Valley at 1,682 m altitude, where you can leave your car in the parking area. The comfortable Rifflseebahn 6-person mountain gondola takes you effortlessly up to 2300 m above sea level. Here you can choose from myriad walking routes and hiking trails. Among the real highlights for all the family ranks the loop walk around the highest mountain lake of the Ötztal Alps. What's best, the trail is also suitable for baby prams and strollers.
Nature explorers of all ages will find loads of new and highly exciting adventures.
