Finish
Eingang Seeweg Kaitanger (1437m)
Swiss-trac tour: Park directly next to the valley station of Hochzeigerbahn gondola and then take the Swiss-Trac down the road before turning right for a nice, short circular route around the lake (ca. 10 min.). It’s a loose gravel path that is accessible by Swiss-Trac.
Valley hiking trail with e-handbike
Start
Mandarfen (1679m)
Finish
Wiese (1177m)
Hike with E-Handbike: The valley hiking trail from Mandarfen to Wiese (ca. 22 km) can be navigated either by electric handbike or sections of it by Swiss-Trac. If you are using an electric handbike, we would advise to start in Mandarfen and take the route out of the valley. The route is overall challenging as it repeatedly features steep inclines and varied terrain. There are several sections through grazing pastures. We would recommend the following sections for Swiss-Trac users:
- Mandarfen and Neurur (ca. 6 km)
- Stillebach and Eggenstall (ca. 4 km)
- Enger and Wiese (ca. 5 km)

E5 Kaunergrat alternative route: Kaunergrathütte – Braunschweiger Hütte
Start
Kaunergrathütte (2814m)
Finish
Braunschweiger Hütte (1601m)
Follow the path downhill to the second crossing. There are two alternative routes from here to the catered mountain hut Braunschweiger Hütte.
1st route: follow the path further downhill until you reach the hamlet of Plangeroß. Once there, follow the valley trail [Talwanderweg] to Mittelberg.
2nd route: Hikers with alpine experience can follow a high route, the so called Cottbuser Höhenweg, which is partially equipped with fixed ropes until you reach the top station of Rifflseebahn gondola. Continue hiking down to the catered mountain hut Taschach Alm and then descend to Mittelberg.
Both variants of the hike join up again in Mittelberg. Once there, continue the last 1,000 metres in altitude up to the catered mountain hut Braunschweiger Hütte.

Hochzeiger Family Trail
Start
Mittelstation Hochzeiger 2,000 m (2024m)
Finish
Hochzeiger Talstation, 1,450 m (1464m)
There is riding fun for all age groups on the blue single trail, which is around 7 km long. The Hochzeiger Family Trail is characterized by a moderate gradient (3% to 8%) and hardly any obstacles. But there are some curves, berms, waves and of course endless fun. The single trail starts at 2000 meters at the Hochzeiger middle station. From the middle station it runs on the "Hexenweg" to the Hochzeigerhaus/Stalderhütte, before the trail enters into the stone pine forst near the “Bärensteig” and finally ends at the Hochzeiger valley station at 1,450 m. The bikes can be transported to the middle station with the gondolas. There are special bike tickets available. At the valley station you can also find a bike rental and a bike washing area.
