The rustic small mountain hut at the foot of the Sechszeiger summit
The catered mountain hut Kalbenalm is located at 2,117 metres and can be reached on foot via the Zirbensteig trail starting from the Hochzeiger intermediate station. This is within 30 minutes of the top station of the Sechszeiger double chair lift. In the olden days, shepherds and herdsmen used this small hut to stay overnight when they were out with young livestock. Today this rustic hut is a favourite place for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
The Schrott family indulges guests with home made cakes and coffee, pine schnapps and much more. What’s more, a variety of pine wood carvings by Klaus Schrott can be admired in the hut – he’s not only dedicated to looking after his young livestock but also a keen enthusiast of this rare tree variety.
