Osterstein tour (small)

Walk for approx. 200 m along the tarmac road from the starting point towards the playground. Just before the playground turn right onto a farm and forest road in the diretion of Osterstein. Walk through the estate and via the Diemersteig path back to the starting point. Tip: Turn off in the direction of the village on the Diemersteig path to reach the village centre of Arzl with two optional refreshments stop within minutes (Restaurant Herz As and Pizzeria Die Post).

Söllberg waterfall circular route

Starting point: Car park at the end of Wiese. From the starting point initially follow the forest road in the direction of Söllberg waterfall. The forest road eventually leads to a trail. Return via the same route back to the Söllbergalm turnoff, then turn left to walk down a trail. After approximately 500 metres you will reach the agricultural road on which you carry on walking downhill for approximately 150 metres before reaching the next turnoff. Then turn right onto the forest road that will take you back to your staring point. 

Small Osterstein circular route

Swiss Trac Tour: Starting point for this circular route is the car park near the football grounds in Arzl. From there, follow the tarmac road in the direction of the village. At the next junction turn right. After a short uphill section you will reach Diemersteig, which is a well-prepared gravel trail through the forest to the Osterstein hamlet. The route is overall relatively flat with short uphill or downhill sections. Once you have reached Osterstein, go through the houses, up- and downhill in places. The route is well signposted. Continue in the direction of Diemersteig through the hamlet until you reach the edge of the forest. Continue past a playground until you reach another forest road and the Diemersteig. The route takes you back to the starting point.
 

Experience hike Piller Moor

The hike starts at Piller Moor car park/ bus stop. Along this circular route the origin of moors, moor flora and peat extraction is described. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Latschen High Moor from the moor viewing tower. This area in particular is of great fascination to visitors of the moor nature trail as it gives an insight in the slow evolution of these fascinating and increasingly rare habitats. Seven information boards explain the evolution of moors, the moor flora and peat extraction.

Winter hike along the Rifflsee cross-country ski trail

Once you have arrived at the starting point, take in the beautiful view of Rifflsee mountain lake before setting out. This easy winter hike follows the outline of the Rifflsee cross-country ski trail past Rifflsee Lake, covered in snow crystals. Sunna Alm catered mountain hut is located at the starting point and offers an inviting and cozy opportunity to have a break. Another optional stop for refreshments is Rifflseehütte, located just a few minutes' walk from Rifflsee Lake. Please note that hikers will require a valid ski lift pass or hiking lift pass for the gondola ride.
 

Rifflsee cross-country skiing trail

Access this trail via Rifflsee mountain railway (return ticket) up to the top station. After accessing the cross-country skiing trail opposite the top station of the “Hirschtal drag lift” a slightly steeper stage of the trail runs downhill for approximately 300 m before you reach the actual cross-country ski trail. Once there, you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic views of Rifflsee on a classic or skate skiing track. Please don’t forget that you are skiing on a trail at an average of 2,250 m and will therefore tire more quickly than usual. For refreshments you can stop at the “Sunna Alm” or “Riffelseehütte“ mountain huts.
 

Hike to Taschachalm mountain hut

Swiss-Trac hike: From the car park at Rifflseebahn gondola take the service track to the “Taschachalm” on 1,830 m. The trail is 1.5 km long and is manageable with the Swiss-Trac in approx. 30 minutes. The terrace can be accessed via a wooden ramp. The spacious terrace of the catered mountain hut “Taschachalm” offers beautiful views of the mountains that are part of Rifflsee ski resort during the winter season. The toilets are in the basement but this can also be accessed via a side entrance from the outside. Here, only one step must be mounted. The toilet cubicle is 115 cm wide and 190 cm deep. The door is 80 cm wide.

Small ´Harbeweiher´ [pond] circular route

With your back turned to the Nature Park Centre, this circular route starts on the right on a farm road in a southerly direction. Follow this road until you reach a fork, turn right in the direction of Harbeweiher pond. To return to the Nature Park Centre, follow the signs and turn left to follow a wide forest path.

Small Harbe circular route

Swiss-Trac Tour: The start of this route is the same as the great Harbe circular route at Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat. From there, follow a narrow gravel path that changes into a wide forest path. After approx. 30 metres there is a junction. Turn right and start your circular route. The forest path will now climb continually. The gravel is loose and rough in places and several water bars cross the path. After approx. 1.5 km you will reach the Harbe meadows where a path forks off to the right (in contrast to the Great Harbe circular route, where you would continue to go on straight). From here, the path descends steadily for 1.5 km before the last section takes you uphill back to the starting point. Diagonal water bars cross the path along the entire length of the route and depending on weather conditions the path can be loose or lined with puddles.

Neururer cross-country skiing trail

After the start in Scheibe this cross-country skiing trail meanders along the waterfall circular route and then continues on the valley cross-country trail to Neurur. After a little loop return to your starting point via the same route. The impressive view of the frozen Klockele waterfall makes this trail a truly great “nature experience”.
