Walk on a steeper path from Plattenrain to the catered mountain hut Hochaster Alm. Initially return via the same route but continue to walk on the left after the fork. The forest road leads past Timler Alm (non-catered mountain hut) back to the starting point.
Walk along a steeper path from Plattenrain to the catered mountain hut Hochastner Alm. Then walk along the mountain ridge along a beautiful forest path directly to the catered mountain hut Venetalm (Signposted as “Venet-Rundwanderweg” [Venet circular route]). Optionally, you can hike from the Venetalm to the Imsterbergerkreuz in another 45 minutes (one way). To return, turn left at the first fork and continue to walk along this path back to Hochaster Alm and then continue to walk on the same path as on your way up initially. After the fork keep left and the forest road will take you back to the un-catered mountain hut Timler Alm and to the starting point.
Starting point: Plattenrainalm. From there walk in the direction of the catered mountain hut Venetalm (approx. 2 hrs). Continue further over the mountain ridge of the Venet, which affords fantastic panoramic vistas of the upper Inn valley, the Gurgltal and Pitztal valleys as well as the lower Inn valley all the way down to Telfs. After approx. 2 hrs you will reach Venet, where the path forks off in the direction of the cate red mountain hut Goglesalm. The three catered mountain huts Goglesalm, Galflunalm and Larcheralm each offer opportunities for a well-earned refreshment pit-stop. You may also wish to stay overnight on the Galflunalm or the Larcheralm. Continue your hike (possibly on the following day) in the direction of Audershof (approx. 1 hr walking distance from the
Larcheralm). After another 1.5 hrs you will return to your starting point at Plattenrainalm.
