Rifflseehütte run by the Alpine Club - Popular Excursion Site in Summer
Location:
Splendid Rifflseehütte nestles on a sun-kissed, panoramic terrace above lake Rifflsee on the southern slope of Muttenkopf peak – the views of the main Ötztal mountain range and Kaunergrat ridge are really awe-inspiring. The mountain hut can be found in the Rifflsee Ski Area and makes a wonderful base for ski mountaineers and Alpine skiers. If you take the Rifflseebahn mountain lift in summer, you reach the hut in only 20 minutes. What's more, three popular High Elevation Trails start here as well as varied ascent routes to one of the 3000 meter high peaks. Snow-covered Alpine pastures or gentian in full bloom - Lovely Rifflseehütte is a popular trailhead for many rewarding hikes, be it for ambitious peak conquerors, passionate hikers or sporty families with children.
History:
The Rifflseehütte was built in 1939 and run as a winter hut right from start. In 2000/2001 the Alpine refuge hut was completely renovated by adding also the south-facing terrace.
Children Welcome!
The mountain hut was awarded "Child-friendly Mountain Inn" by the major Alpine Clubs, just perfect for a memorable and active family holiday in the mountains. Gently rolling Alpine meadows and pasturelands, a mountain lake, whistling marmots, a kids' playground with trampoline and a climbing wall offer a whole range of entertaining highlights during and in-between a hiking tour in the mountains.
