A skiing holiday in Tyrol: Pitztal’s biggest draw for skiers and snowboarders are the varied pistes, family-friendliness and snow guarantee. Pitztal Glacier offers guaranteed snow from mid-September to mid-May. Thanks to the high altitude of Hochzeiger ski resort, the season here also starts early and ends late. These are the main requirements for any successful ski holiday in Austria!

You will find easy, medium and difficult ski runs on the Pitztal ski map – whether it is a wide glacier piste or excellently prepared pistes down into the valley. Sun-kissed slopes in Pitztal for the whole family

Hochzeiger ski resort makes novice and accomplished skiers’ wishes come true with over 54 ski run kilometres with all levels of difficulty. The ski resort’s southwest-facing location allows skiing fun on sun-kissed slopes as late as 4 pm, even in January. Snow is absolutely guaranteed regardless: More than 90% of the ski runs are above 2,000 metres. Due to its high altitude up to 2,500 metres and extensive cover by snow cannons you are guaranteed skiing fun on the pistes of Pitztal’s Hochzeiger ski resort from the beginning of December to the end of April.

Hochzeiger ski map

12 kilometres of blue, 32 kilometres of red and 10 kilometres of black ski runs offer variety for beginners, those returning to skiing after a break and advanced skiers. And in between it’s “carpe diem” at the ski resort’s designated “relax points”. Although they are not marked in the Hochzeiger ski map (JPG) or interactive map of the slopes they are easy to find: sit down, relax and enjoy Pitztal’s mountain world sheltered from the wind.

Our insider tip for those seeking an adrenaline rush: the black Zirbenfall ski run should not be missed when skiing in Pitztal. It demands 100 % courage of skiers with an incline of up to 80%. This black run is marked on the left in the Hochzeiger ski map and runs in parallel to the Zirbenbahn lift. It offers brilliant panoramic views over its two-kilometre length with inclines of up to 80%. Hochzeiger ski resort has also been awarded with a quality seal for its ski runs by the county of Tyrol.

Skiing in the home ski resort of Marlies and Benni Raich

With a little luck you will be able to catch a glimpse of the ski stars Marlies and Benni Raich when skiing on Pitztal’s slopes. Hochzeiger is their home ski resort. The black run no.3 in the Hochzeiger ski map is named after Benni Raich as are several gondolas of the Hochzeiger mountain railway.

Superb Slopes with Natural Snow on Tirol's Rooftop

On Tirol's highest glacier the skiing season starts already in mid-September. Thanks to its high Alpine location, natural snow on perfectly groomed ski slopes is guaranteed until early May.
Skiable terrain covers incredible 120 hectares and 40 slope kilometers of all difficulty grades.
 

Snow Management

Just to be always on the safe side, we also improve our snow management system in the high Alpine area. In addition to classic snow-making devices, we also create huge snow storage areas at the end of winter - which help to guarantee the earliest possible start of the next autumn season.  

The unrivaled IDE Snow Maker from Israel is able to produce snow without adding chemical substances, based on laws of physics. Independently from outdoor temperature, air humidity and wind speed it can produce 950 cubic meters of snow in 24 hours by applying vacuum principles. Therefore the unique "Snow Maker" will ensure future ski and winter tourism at Pitztal Glacier in the most sustainable way. The early season start in autumn also requires this man-made snow layer between the eternal ice and the natural snow in order to avoid further glacier recession.
