Bike Transalp starts at Mittenwald, Garmisch or Oberammergau in Germany and takes cyclists all the way to Lake Garda in Italy: Stage 2 Imst – Nauders in Austria.
The second stage of Bike Transalp from Imst to Nauders goes past Arzl and Wenns in Pitztal and across the Pillerhöhe ridge down to the Inn valley.
Route information:
On a road or trekking bike
The crossing over the Gachen Blick ridge from Arzl is all on tarmac roads. The road surface for this variant is therefore easy, whilst the elevation gain is easy to medium.
On a mountain bike
Mountain bikers have the option of cycling parts of the route along Pitztal bike trail. The majority then is on tarmac while the sections between Imst train station/Pitztal to the industrial park in Arzl and then again from the fork at Timls to Wenns are on gravel or forest roads.
