Pitztal Bike 614

Start
Mittelberg (1733m)
Finish
Bahnhof Imst-Pitztal (718m)
The Pitztal Bike Route is the mountain biker’s lifeline through the entire valley. All connecting routes can be reached via the Pitzal Bike Route and thereby any tours can be planned from your favoured location via this mountain bike route.

Don’t underestimate the 40 km route along the valley as it bristles with minor inclines. Pitztal Bike Route also boasts a few technical sections that can be avoided by making small detours along the state road instead. Should you decide to cycle the route uphill starting from Imst station/Pitztal to Mittelberg, expect a 6 hours cycle tour with an impressive difference in altitude.

It is far easier to cycle the route starting from Mittelberg downhill to Imst station/Pitzal in around 3:30 hours.

Bike und Hike Taschachhaus 6025

Start
Mandarfen Parkplatz (1675m)
Finish
Materialseilbahn Taschachhaus (2043m)
From the public car park north of the Rifflsee cable car, you drive directly below the Rifflsee valley station over a bridge to the building yard of the Pitztal tourism association. You reach the Taschachalm on a very pleasant ascent. From there, you drive descend slightly in a south-westerly direction than you reach a rough gravel path. You pass the very steep ascent to the Rifflsee, which is not permitted for mountain bikers according to the landowner. It is also strongly discouraged, as the nature and steepness of the path is not suitable for MTBs or e-bikes. Following the signposted gravel path, you reach the Taschachhaus material cable car after approx. 6 km. From there, a wonderful hiking world opens up, which takes you not only to the Taschachhaus but also to the foot of the Taschachferner - walking time approx. 1 hour.

Chapel path Arzl im Pitztal

Start
Pfarrkirche Arzl im Pitztal (851m)
Finish
Parkplatz Steige in Arzl im Pitztal (935m)
The starting point of the Chapel Trail is the Steige car park. From here, the trail leads past the Zangerl family farm shop in the direction of the village centre with the first stop at Arzl parish church. The church, first documented in 1358, is dedicated to Bishops Ingenuin and Albuin. On the cemetery right next to the church is the Our Lady, Help of Christians funerary chapel, a pilgrimage chapel from the late Gothic period. A steep path right next to the church continues to Lourdes Chapel, built in 1897. Hike back to the church via the same trail and then continue in the direction of Burgstall via a sunny uphill climb leading through forests and meadows and boasting wonderful views of the valley. Following the signs (“Kapellenweg Arzl”) you will reach the hamlet of Arzlair with the pilgrimage Chapel of Our Lady, majestically nestled on a hill like a castle. From there, continue downhill to Timls to the Chapel of Our Lady with ceiling frescoes by the Imst Rococo painter Josef Wörle. Now keep to the right, follow the signs, and stay on the road to the Steinhof fork. In the hamlet of Steinhof is the Chapel of the Holy Family, which was built in the mid-18th century, the last stop on the Chapel Trail. Walk along the valley hiking trail to the bus stop at the junction to Timls. Here you can conveniently get on the public bus to Arzl and get off at the town hall [Gemeindeamt]. If you prefer to hike back to Arzl along the valley hiking trail, please calculate another 30 minutes for the two kilometres back to the starting point (Steige car park).
