Hike to Aifneralm mountain hut
Start

Car park near the hamlet Puschlin (1518m)
Swiss Trac Tour: Start: Please do not take the trail starting straight at the Naturparkhaus, as this features a short section that is not accessible by Swiss-Trac.
Start this route at the car park near the hamlet of Puschlin. Initially follow a well-prepared forest path. You will cover some altitude on this initial steep uphill section. Please note that you should never leave the main path. It leads past beautiful alpine meadows and after approx. 2/3 of the way, the surface of the path will become a little rougher and harder to navigate. After ca. 1.5 h you will reach the catered mountain hut “Aifner Alm”. The hut itself is accessible via a ramp, however, after rainfall the path leading up to it may be washed out in places. The toilet can be accessed by mounting one step. The corridor is very narrow due to a box. The toilet can be accessed by wheelchair but there is not sufficient space for turning circles.

Arzler Alm Route 611
Start
St. Leonhard/Scheibe (1396m)
Finish
Arzler Alm (1890m)
Start in Scheibe at “Gasthof zur Einkehr” restaurant. The 3.7 km long uphill hike to the catered mountain hut Arzler Alm leaves hardly any opportunity for a breather. The route has an average of 13% incline and despite a dense forest protecting it from direct sunlight, hikers will certainly work up a sweat!
The condition of the mostly graveled roads is very good but caution should be exercised on your way down, especially in the bends. Arzler Alm affords fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

From there, turn left to walk around Lake Rifflsee, then cross a river and at the next junction follow the signposts to “Fuldaer Höhenweg” [high-level trail]. Follow the continuously steep path on the left, sometimes up and sometimes down, across several streams until you reach the only critical point of the hike – the Vordere Köpfl. There are rocky and steep sections to master here, however, the path is safely secured with steel ropes and can be accomplished as long as you are surefooted. From then on it is a steady downhill climb to the cirque [Kar] and then a little further uphill to the catered mountain hut Taschachhaus. Catch a fantastic glimpse of the Taschach glacier world from a viewing point on the mountain’s crest just above the mountain hut.The descent takes you down to the goods cable lift and from then on along the agricultural road to Taschach Alm and further on to the valley station of Rifflseebahn in Mandarfen. For comfort, you can also complete the last 6 km from the goods cable lift by mountain bike. For more information please see www.pitztal.com.
